Supervision training

Supervisory tasks may include clinical or managerial roles or both, and supervisees may be experienced art therapists or students in training. This course will provide theoretical input to support your supervisory role by looking at different models of supervision.

Open to qualified art therapists only.

We will look at aims and objectives of supervision, the role of the artwork and mutual expectations of supervisors and supervisees. We will introduce organisational concepts to help develop an understanding of dynamics that impact directly on the clinical work and the supervision task.

Practical issues such as contract setting, implication of ‘duty of candour’ and the statutory framework will also be addressed.

Learning outcomes will include:

  • A better understanding of the aims and objectives of supervision
  • Familiarity with different models of supervision
  • Further clarity on the role of the artwork

Tutor: Dr Val Huet

Thoroughly useful and inspiring. Lots to think about. I feel more confident in beginning my clinical supervisor journey.
