About our governance

Governance is the way an organisation is managed by having the necessary structures and decision-making processes in place to run the business/company. The Board of Directors (Council) is your association’s governing body and makes key decisions on behalf of the business/company, the profession and the membership.

What is the Board of Directors?

The Board of Directors (Council) is our strategic governing board. Members who sit on the Board are legally responsible for the success of the association, and ultimately its ability to support the profession and all of its members.

As we are a registered company, when a member joins the Board, in law, they become a company director. Key roles include agreeing major policy, managing the association’s finances and any other potential risks.
