Summer may be over, but nature isn’t done sharing its magic! Autumn brings a whole new season of change, colour, and beauty. As the days get shorter and the air gets cooler, we can take inspiration from nature’s changes, using its gifts to be creative and mindful.
Autumn
Creative activity: Unfolding Adventures
Create a map of a special place - real, imagined, or discovered along the way. Navigate challenges like mountains, storms, or rough waters while designing safe havens such as caves, treehouses, houseboats, forests, or beaches. Let your creativity shape the journey!
Autumn, also known as ‘Fall’, fills the ground with colourful leaves, branches, and seed pods - perfect for making art. Kinetic sculptures are moving artworks, like mobiles, that can sway in the wind. Using natural materials, create your own mobile, thinking about movement, appearance, and even sound.
Autumn's mindful activity will help you find calm and focus by paying attention to your surroundings. It’s a simple tool for managing transitions, stress, and staying present - useful before exams or whenever you need a moment of stillness.
Now’s our chance to think about autumn and what it means, for ourselves and the world around us.
Autumn is a great time to reflect on change, especially if you're going through big shifts, like starting a new school, moving, beginning a job or relationship, or even experiencing loss. In this activity, we'll explore how some of the creative techniques we use in art therapy can guide you in reflecting on the seasons and how they make you feel.
