What will I learn?

Art-based processes in supervision will feature prominently in the curriculum.

Understanding implications of the legal framework as well as organisational dynamics and their impact on supervision will be an integral part of the programme.

The training will also focus on enabling you to become a research-aware supervisor and learn how to evaluate the efficacy of your supervisory work.

Scholarships

We are offering 3 scholarships of £1,000.

Who can apply for a scholarship?

We’d like to encourage suitable applicants from minoritised and marginalised groups, who may have traditionally faced barriers to participation in art therapy education or professional development. This includes persons of colour, those who are part of the LGBTQIA+ community, disabled persons, and members of neurominority groups.

One of the scholarships is supported by NHS England and will be awarded to an applicant who has faced barriers to learning due to disability. We understand this concept in relation to the social model of disability, which recognises that persons are disabled by barriers in society, not by an impairment or difference. You may not explicitly identify yourself as ‘disabled’ but nonetheless be eligible for this scholarship.

Applicants for the scholarships must:

  1. Be a full member of the British Association of Art Therapists.
  2. Meet the course entry requirements.
  3. Be a member of an underrepresented group within the art therapy profession compared with the working-age population.

If you are not sure whether you are a suitable applicant for a scholarship award, please feel free to contact us at hello@baat.org to discuss.

How to apply for a scholarship

To apply, please add a statement of up to 500 words or a 3-4 minute video to your programme application to let us know how the scholarship will help enable you to take part in the diploma. Tell us about:

  1. The barriers you have experienced to participating in learning or professional development opportunities.
  2. How the scholarship award would help to dismantle or work around those barriers.
  3. Specific examples of challenges, from your own experience.

The scholarship applications will be reviewed by a panel including our diplomas programme leaders, professional development manager, and a member of our council. The panel will review each application based on the above criteria.
