What will I learn?

Art-based processes in supervision will feature prominently in the curriculum.

An integral part of the programme will be understanding implications of the legal framework as well as organisational dynamics and their impact on supervision.

The training will also focus on enabling you to become a research-aware supervisor and learn how to evaluate the efficacy of your supervisory work.

Scholarships

We currently have one scholarship of £1,000 available for the diploma starting in 2025.

We’d like to encourage suitable applicants from minoritised and marginalised groups, who may have traditionally faced barriers to participation in art therapy education or professional development. This includes persons of colour, those who are part of the LGBTQIA+ community, disabled persons, and members of neurominority groups.

Applicants for the scholarships must:

  1. Be a full member of the British Association of Art Therapists (this does not include trainee or associate members).
  2. Meet the programme entry requirements.
  3. Be a member of an underrepresented group within the art therapy profession compared with the working-age population OR have faced barriers to learning specifically connected to a disability.

To apply, please add a statement of up to 500 words or a 3-4 minute video to your course application to let us know how the scholarship will help enable you to take part in the diploma. Tell us about:

  1. The barriers you have experienced to participating in learning or professional development opportunities.
  2. How the scholarship award would help to dismantle or work around those barriers.
  3. Specific examples of challenges, from your own experience.

The scholarship applications will be reviewed by our diploma programme leader and professional development manager. The panel will review each application based on the above criteria.

Because I have dyslexia, I can struggle to retain information and have limited confidence in my writing abilities and communication. I have felt so supported by the tutors and by how the course has been delivered. It is easy to follow, engaging and skilled, with a wonderful international cohort of attendees. It is a warm, inviting space that I look forward to attend every month.
