Artist statement

As the youngest of six and the daughter of a woodworker and a seamstress, my journey as a multimedia artist began early. Inspired by stories of pain and resilience in my therapy room and informed by my own experiences, my art presents the complexities of humanity that often elude words, offering validation to those who feel unseen.

Pillow for Children (2022), created for the exhibition Dream of Longing, captures a young girl’s deep yearning to be known and loved within her unconscious – a realm more accessible in sleep. Being nurtured is fundamental to our sense of self and a universal human need; together with image creation, these elements transcend language to facilitate neurobiological change, offering hope and new possibilities.

My work promotes hope while exploring the interplay between humanity and creativity in therapeutic processes. I cherish the transformative moment when the internal becomes external, when one finds the courage to let go and trust that the unknown might hold more potential than we could ask or imagine.

I hope viewers of my art engage with their own experiences, finding solace and connection – perhaps a shared journey of healing in a fragmented world.

I cherish the transformative moment when the internal becomes external, when one finds the courage to let go and trust that the unknown might hold more potential than we could ask or imagine.
