Audio Image Recordings (self-study)

Audio Image Recordings (AIRs) are a unique tool that can enhance art therapy assessment, evaluation and research. This self-study course will show you how to use AIRs safely and effectively, from ethical considerations through to practical application, with real case studies.

What are AIRs?

AIRs are an art therapy-specific method involving a client sharing an image of their artwork and responding to questions asked by their art therapist, captured in a simple voice-over-image video. AIRs provide valuable insights into a client’s experience while enhancing the therapeutic process, making them useful for both practice and research.

What will you learn

This comprehensive course covers:

  • Origins, functions and applications of AIRs in practice and research
  • Complete step-by-step process: preparation, recording, editing and sharing AIRs
  • Case studies demonstrating AIRs across different client populations and settings
  • Practical resources and references for ongoing learning

How you will learn

Learn at your own pace through an interactive online learning platform, featuring approximately 2+ hours of self-directed study including videos, text quizzes, progress tracking and a CPD certificate upon completion.

Contributors

  • Dr Ania Zubala (art therapy researcher)
  • Dr Neil Springham (consultant art therapist and co-founder of the AIRs method)
  • Kacper Łyszkiewicz/Northern Ideas (learning experience design)
