Free CPD for members: creative self-care for trauma-focused art therapists

As practitioners we are often deep in the dark and tangled world of trauma. How does this impact our self-care and what can we do to survive the journey? This is a brief event for creative reflection on your personal self-care practice.

What you will explore

Our creativity and playfulness can help us embrace images, the non-verbal and differing perspectives. This event offers an opportunity to start to play, reflect and think about your unique path through the dark woods of trauma.

Drawing on a breadth of theories around selfcare, trauma and vicarious trauma, we will consider the implications of trauma work on our physiology, thoughts, feeling and ability to practice.

The course covers:

  • Theory around self-care, vicarious trauma, compassion fatigue and burnout.
  • A creative exploration of one’s own self-care practice.
  • Ways of identifying trauma triggers and responses.
