Mentalisation-based art therapy: introduction day

Mentalisation-based art therapy can be useful for adults who suffer from intense emotional distress and children experiencing social, emotional and mental health difficulties. What is mentalisation-based art therapy?

Mentalisation-based art therapy applies mentalisation-based therapy principles to art therapy practice. Mentalisation is a normal capacity that we all use in everyday life enabling us to make sense of our thoughts and feelings, link these to our actions, and engage in human relationships. However, some people can find it more difficult to mentalise in certain situations. Mentalisation-based art therapy aims to improve a person’s capacity to mentalise.
