Cultivating creativity calendar: a free resource for children and young people

We are proud to launch our Cultivating Creativity Calendar, a free, interactive resource designed to help children and young people explore creativity and enhance their wellbeing through art.

Developed by art therapist Jess Baum, this resource is designed to encourage young people to tap into their imagination and practice mindfulness as part of their self-care routine.

The easy-to-use calendar is packed with simple, step-by-step activities for mindfulness, creativity, and connecting to nature.

Who is the calendar for?

The calendar is designed for 11-18 year olds.

It is also full of useful activities and ideas for teachers, parents and care-givers and any professional wanting to help children and young people engage with art.

We have also designed a guide for careers advisors on how to use the calendar to promote art therapy as a career.

How to use the calendar

Why use art?

Children and young people face increasing challenges to their mental health and emotional well-being.

By encouraging young people to explore their creativity, we can help them build emotional resilience, reduce stress, and foster a positive sense of self.

The calendar is not a substitute for professional mental health support, but can be used to encourage positive coping strategies and tools for self-care.

What is art therapy?

Art therapy is a type of therapy that uses art as a way of expressing yourself, alongside talking with a trained art therapist.

In the UK, the title art therapist and art psychotherapist are protected by law. All UK art therapists must be registered with the Health and Care Professions Council (HCPC).
