The bodymind model of art therapy

The bodymind model delineates core processes and mechanisms of art therapy. In this course you will learn how to use this model in practice and research.

About the bodymind model

The bodymind model of art therapy attempts to describe several core processes and mechanisms that can be measured in research. An in-depth experience of the model may also help clinicians examine their work, enhance their understanding of practice, and inform the design of interventions.

What you will learn

The course will outline the basics of the bodymind model of art therapy and will explain how the model can be used in designing small and large research studies as well as how it can be used in practice to benefit clinicians’ understanding of how to enhance the salutary effect of art therapy with adults.

On completion of this course you will be able to:

  • Understand how the bodymind model of art therapy can be used to conduct research studies.
  • Define and understand several mechanisms of art therapy practice.
  • Understand why knowledge of mechanisms and core processes of art therapy are important in practice as well as research.

How you will learn

Learning will take place both in lectures and small group discussions and be enhanced with art-based learning components.
